Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000

 

 

Job Description

As an Underwriting Assistant you will support a team of underwriters and assist them in maintaining efficient underwriting processes and provide excellent customer service to our broker/clients. The objective of this position is to enable underwriters to focus on business production and underwriting quality while assisting in various aspects of the workflow processes. You will also provide support to the compliance team and help ensure that forms, policies and procedures are in compliance with state insurance department guidelines.

 

Essential Functions 

  • Perform pre-assessment for new submissions, quotes, binders, renewals, endorsements and other relevant documents based on underwriting rules and/or guidelines
  • Ensure completeness of all new submissions and reach out to broker to obtain missing information
  • Liaise with underwriters and brokers and as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities
  • Liaise with underwriters to confirm policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, certificates, etc. and effectively complete coding/issuance
  • Quality control to ensure accuracy of work (e.g. exposure bases, limits, coverage extensions and/or any modifications)
  • Generate broker correspondence in electronic format (e-mail) related to transaction processing and informational follow up requests
  • Generate Loss Runs, when required
  • Rate premium changes for premium bearing change requests
  • Update electronic diary system to accurately reflect account status
  • Create and maintain electronic file for accounts as required

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to customer service and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
  • Desire to learn and understand our insurance product offerings

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
